“Gumball for Fixies” – Trailer for Line Of Sight

Nutters on Fixies

I’m not trendy enough to have a fixie. I’m not skilful enough to ride one.  If I was to try it, I’d probably fall off and I know I’d need physio for weeks on my mashed tendons.

However, this movie looks like it’s going to be very, very cool.

I think you should think about watching it.

    They are totally mad…bonkers…fruit loops…

Not sure how keen I am to see road laws flouted completely by a load of adrenaline junkies!

You make a really good point John, I honestly hadn’t considered how real it was. It’s filmed liked a work of fiction but it isn’t, is it?

John makes a good point, and it’s also worth pointing out that the only crash we see involves Brunelle – we won’t see any accidents involving riders he’s ahead of. My experience of riding in London, as a courier and as a commuter, leads me to think that around 60% of riders think they have “the right” to jump red lights. They do, but they should die happy with the consequences of their actions. It also helps the opinion of drivers towards cyclists in absolutely no way. The skidding BMW driver? He won’t be so careful in the future.

It does look exciting and it does look dangerous, and you can’t see anyone with such a disregard for their own well being, living a long and fruitful life. But its their death not mine. But is it! Riding like that gives us all a bad name, and only encourages some drivers to think we all deserve to die under their wheels riding a bike like that. Its good viewing but for me I’ll stick with “Red stop, Green go” if you don’t mind.

Quite often people used fixed gear bikes for very steep hill climbs. A different kind of crazinees, but good fun in a way…

Bloody noras Phill – I don’t ride my fixie like that!

Don’t like the way they ride around (and almost through) pedestrians but I still wouldn’t mind seeing the whole thing.

“Red stop, Green go” if you don’t mind.

…that’s only the tip of the iceberg looking at the trailer lol

As an occasional fixie rider i’d like to say that these bikes are a bit misunderstood. You don’t need special pedals or a lack of brakes but do have to ride them differently i.e don’t forget about the lack of a freewheel on a sharp bend :>D

I’m still trying to get around the fact that this isn’t fiction.

The last fixie I rode was when I was 4, before I was allowed to borrow my sister’s folder sometimes whilst my parents were saving up for my Raleigh Chico!

The thought of not being able to stop pedalling to take a bend fills my mind with premonitions of being hurled OTB as my knee is turned inside out! 🙂

And hey everyone, look at this that I just randomly saw in my Farcebook stream. You might need the FB reader app thingummy but it’s only a newspaper reader, nothing sinister…Looky here.
