{"id":326,"date":"2010-03-22T13:06:29","date_gmt":"2010-03-22T13:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phillconnell.com\/blog\/?p=326"},"modified":"2017-01-12T04:36:23","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T04:36:23","slug":"rib-recovery-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phillconnell.com\/blog\/rib-recovery-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"<b>Rib Recovery Ride<\/b>"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Stir Crazy After All These Beers<\/h2>\n<p>Owing to increasing, recurrent pain in my ribs following a knock at football, I&#8217;ve avoided exercise for a couple of weeks.\u00a0 I&#8217;d noticed that the pain was subsiding nicely, which is good, but my energy levels were subsiding\u00a0too, which is bad news.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday I went out for\u00a0a meal with my colleagues at <a title=\"San Carlo Manchester\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sancarlo.co.uk\/manchester\" target=\"_blank\">San Carlo<\/a> in Manchester which was beautiful (<em>try the lobster risotto<\/em>) and retuned home where I had a couple of beers to supplement the mucho vino that had accompanied the meal.\u00a0 Saturday followed, which consisted of a quiet day in, a Not Poodle for lunch and Phase3 of the Magnolia Replacement Programme (<em>downstairs<\/em> <em>bathroom painted<\/em>).\u00a0 I can&#8217;t stand the rain, against my window, bringing back sweet memories, so I became steadily more stir crazy as the day went on.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday evening, therefore, consisted of a pasta meal at Pizza Hut with (<em>guess what?<\/em>) a beer, then a visit to the Odeon to take in Alice In Wonderland in 3D.<\/p>\n<h2>Movie Review, Alice In Wonderland 3D<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s ok. Like my new top from Decathlon?\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-335\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our riding Decathlon advertisement!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But for now, we managed to scoot around traffic-free bike paths savouring the quiet and the views before pootling back along the canalside home.\u00a0 It was a nice reintroduction to my lovely bike after a few weeks of enforced rest.<\/p>\n<h2>New GPS Tracker<\/h2>\n<p>I downloaded a new GPS Tracker last week.\u00a0 So far I&#8217;m very happy with the way it works and there&#8217;s some free PC software that can be used to compare &amp; score rides, runs and so on by various criteria.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a handy little app for my phone.\u00a0 But the catch at the moment is that it uses a little text file to store the waypoints so to upload it to <a title=\"My MMR Profile\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mapmyride.com\/user\/united-kingdom\/rochdale\/phillconnell\" target=\"_blank\">MapMyRides<\/a> I have to go via Google Earth and save the file as a kml, which is a pain in the bum.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t much like Google Earth, so I&#8217;d prefer to avoid it.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll keep tinkering and see how I get on.\u00a0 Anyway, here&#8217;s yesterday&#8217;s ride &#8211;
